| A microphone is sensitive to sound - tiny changes in air pressure. Unfortunately if that microphone is exposed to wind or even placed near to a ventilation system or a passing car it will sense these pressure changes as sound too. Besides being distracting, the disturbance can be so severe that serious distortion results. Heavy filtering and processing of the audio can do little to help wanted sound; to ensure the best results, some sort of protection from the wind is essential. |
