REAL realtime editing

Matrox RT2500 offers more professional features than any other video editing card in its class. "REAL" realtime means you work with two video streams and a graphics layer, simultaneously, in real time. On any of the three layers, you can add particle effects, 3D tiles, distortion effects, 2D and 3D DVE, and transparency effects in real time,
NO RENDERING.

Capture

Capturing video to the hard disk in your computer is the first step in nonlinear video editing. The new Matrox MediaTools application fully automates the DV capture process saving you hours of valuable time. It automatically scans, logs, and batch captures clips, unattended. It also lets you capture still frames to easily create photo montages. Matrox RT2500 lets you work with both analog and digital equipment to get the most from your editing system. You can even mix clips captured from analog video with native-DV clips in the same project. If you're using DV equipment, Matrox RT2500 lets you take advantage of the full video-quality potential of your DV camera. Its built-in 1394 port lets you digitally transfer your DV footage to your editing system in its native DV format so there's no recompression or transcoding that can degrade the quality of your video.

If you're working with analog equipment you can choose to capture in DV or in MPEG-2. MPEG-2 I-frame editing lets you capture at high compression ratios so you can fit more video on your hard disk. It's great for off-line editing of long-form programs. RT2500 also lets you capture MPEG-2 IBP clips in real time for immediate use in your DVD authoring program.

It delivers over 1,000 realtime, broadcast-quality 2D and 3D digital video effects and transitions including page curls, organic wipes, particle effects, distortions, 3D tiles, and 2D and 3D DVEs with customizable drop shadows, soft edges, and color borders. You can even use key frames to size, position, and rotate your clips in real time to get exactly the look you want. Over 60 of Adobe Premiere's native transitions can also be used in real time.
