CAMpeg RT™, a patent-pending software technology that allows DV camcorder users to go directly from DV into MPEG-2 format for video streaming, DVD authoring, archiving or distribution.

This software package provides the ability to create an MPEG-2 file from a DV camcorder using your notebook or desktop PC.

This breakthrough in full motion video and audio processing is made possible by an advanced algorithm, which enables full D1 resolution DV decoding and MPEG-2 encoding in real-time simultaneously at a full frame rate. While others are currently able to get these results on a Pentium 4, CAMpeg RT runs smoothly on a Pentium III, Celeron, or AMD Athlon processors.

CAMpeg RT, based on MedioStream's HSP (Host Signal Processing) technologies, is designed for DV camcorder and video capture/editing users. It integrates the decoder of Medio DVision and the encoder of Medio MVision into one complete package.

CAMpeg RT has user-friendly features that allow users to select the video segments that they want to transcode from their DV camcorder. The on-screen control menu is easy to use, and is designed to assist the user to create an MPEG-2 program or DVD-compliant stream on the fly.

On a high-end Pentium III, Celeron, or Athlon system, you can achieve real-time performance. CAMpeg RT achieves additional 8 to 10 times compression by converting from DV to MPEG-2. This not only preserves the video quality, but also reduces the storage requirement. It also greatly reduces the needs of running the DV cassettes through a service bureau.

Until now, almost all high-end video codecs were implemented in hardware on chip-sets and remain very expensive and complicated to use. With the development of MedioStream's innovative algorithms, users can achieve video streaming about three times faster than hardware products on high-end PCs at a very low cost.

The MedioStream video codecs have been designed to have a modular, well-defined interface. Integration using these codecs is simple and will dramatically reduce time to market for OEM customers. MedioStream's codecs are fully scalable and programmable to fit different application requirements. All codecs come with defined audio technology.
